Kathmandu । Internships are the parts of students life. College sends students for internships in many organization . As per the students of social work, internships are very common and interesting too .

Different from other interships like in banks, hospitals, media houses or other kinds of corporations, the internships in social work is different . Here, in social work , internships are challenging as you have to help people with wide heart. Learning for helping other is a main task .

I too went internship in "Hope hermitage" for my assigned task for the college which is located in Naxal,Kathmandu.

I was excited to learn in that organization and went to the place.  Hope Hermitage provides care and comfort for elderly residents and those with physical or mental health issues. I had some bitter experiences in that organization. During my internship, some staff were rude and gave me a lot of work. They told me to come every week if I was free that is my unpaid internship.

I think that is normal for student but the staff asked me for the tasks that I was not trained for, like handling urine bags and bathing residents in open spaces  that is not related to my study and i am not feeling comfortable.

I asked my friend Jyotsana about the experiences in that organization and I found the same problem .I shared my experiences, to my Supervisor and maam told me that you are a students of social work .Thats Why, you should do whatever the organization assigned.

Although, The senior staff at the home were kind and supportive, but some other staff gave me a difficult tasks that were not related to my learning. This made me feel unprepared and stressed.During my internship, there were more than 30 member at Hope Hermitage.

Some had no family, while others had family living abroad. The home cared not only for elderly people but also for those with physical or mental health problems.
